Our Process

Gingko Woodworks uses techniques that blend the use of modern power tools with that of traditional hand tools. Power tools are used for rough milling and dimensioning, while final fitting and finishing is done using traditional hand saws, chisels, and planes. Hand tools are prized by our shop not simply out of nostalgia, but because hand tools actually allow for more precise fitting and finishing. Even the best power tools work to 1/l6th of an inch, while skillfully used hand tools can produce results measured to thousandths of an inch.

About Paul “Woody” Norwood

Paul “Woody” Norwood's passion for woodworking has grown from his early days of working with his grandfather in his workshop. His journey led him into the corporate world, but his passion remained, and he continued building furniture in the evenings and on the weekends. Eventually, Woody's passion led him away from the corporate world and back to woodworking full time. The enjoyment of designing and crafting furniture by hand is what truly drives him. Woody is an avid student of woodworking history and technique and continues to study and hone his craft.
